Dear Parents and Westwood Heights Community Members:
We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER), which provides key information on the 2023-2024 educational progress for Hamady Elementary. The (AER) addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, accountability and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Diane Richards, Principal, for assistance (810) 591-8663.
The AER is available for you to review electronically with the link below, in the office at Hamady Elementary or by following the Westwood Heights website (www.hamadyhawks.net):

Using data found in the AER report, Hamady Elementary has created a school improvement plan now known as the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MCIP) that addresses raising student achievement in all core subject areas. The district plan will identify annual measurable objectives that will serve as strategic targets for student achievement. The plan also identifies activities and strategies that are in place to reach those targets. These curriculum components are utilized in grades Kindergarten – 1st grade to drive instruction, and academic interventions are being implemented to accelerate positive academic outcomes.
The district by State law requires that we also report additional information.
1. Students that live within the designated school boundaries are able to attend Hamady Elementary. Additionally, families who are not residents of the Westwood Heights School District may apply for Out of District Schools of Choice. Please contact Mrs. Bridget Ennis, intake official, for assistance (810)591-4321.
2. Hamady Elementary, along with the entire Westwood Heights School District, received district wide full accreditation from the AdvancED School Accreditation Program during the 2022-2023 school year. Hamady Elementary also maintains a continuous School Improvement Plan now called MCIP that is revised and updated annually to meet State and district guidelines.
3. Hamady Elementary is a kindergarten and first grade building with 157 students in attendance. The staff consists of 11 highly qualified teachers, certified paraprofessionals, and student support staff. The school offers a well-rounded education for all students with the addition of physical education and Enrichment classes for all students weekly.
4. Curriculum is developed and implemented accordingly with the Michigan Common Core Curriculum. For a copy of the core curriculum standards, please contact the school office.
5. The State’s Standardized Assessment (M-STEP) for 2022-2023 data will not be on the website, because this group of students do not take the M-STEP.
6. Hamady Elementary prides itself with communicating with parents during the parent/teacher conferences. In an attempt to meet with every parent, the Hamady Elementary teachers extend themselves by conferring with parents by other means such as phone conferences and virtual meetings during 2023-2024 conferences. This past year, our participation rate is at 95% with conferring with parents and families.
In Closing, it is with great pride and enthusiasm that the team at Hamady Elementary presents this report to you. We recognize the important role we play in helping our students reach their full potential, and the Hamady Elementary staff works diligently towards student academic success. We truly believe all students can be successful, and this belief drives the work we do on a daily basis. Through our continuous dedication and devotion to our students and families, we will continue to strive towards achievement.
Respectfully,
Diane Richards, Principal
